The Hypno Band – Does it really work?

Take a look around you. Fast food chains, fried food vendors and junk food stalls are everywhere. It’s no wonder that so many people are becoming ‘conveniently’ obese.

These all lead to the rise of a new pandemic, obesity. It may not be a new phenomena in the world, but it is certainly the most urgent pandemic around the globe, so much so that there is a term “globesity” that can be found in the dictionary. Obesity, simply put is where you have excess body fat in your system so much so that it poses a health threat to you. It is not the same as being overweight as weight can be a result of heavy bones, water or extra muscles.

It is happening right here in our own backyard. Malaysia has the tallest twin tower, the biggest mooncake, the longest line of 20 cents coins and also the highest obesity rate in Southeast Asia and ranks sixth in Asia region, according to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Health. 60 percent of Malaysians aged 18 and above had a body mass index (BMI) of over 24. The BMI is a measure of body weight based on a person’s weight and height. What is your BMI?

Obesity is a significant health threat. Someone who is 40% overweight is twice as likely to die prematurely as is a normal-weight person. This is because obesity has been linked to several serious medical conditions, including heart disease and stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, gallbladder disease and gallstones, osteoarthritis, gout, breathing problems, such as sleep apnea and asthma.

Obesity Dangers

Heart disease and stroke are the leading causes of death and disability for those who are overweight. They are more likely to have high blood pressure, a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke, than people who are not overweight. Another very common obesity related disease is diabetes, it reduces your body’s ability to control blood sugar. The good news is that losing a small amount of weight can reduce your chances of developing heart disease or diabetes. If you are overweight, reducing your weight by 5%-10% is proven to decrease your chance of developing heart disease.

Apart from the above health threats, most obese people feel self conscious of their appearance. Many face teasing and snide remarks about their weight problem. They may also have low self esteem, have poor social skills and a shattered confidence. S

ometimes, obesity can affect your relationships with friends and family. Many obese people report being depressed and lonely. They end up having to face this horrible disease alone. On top of that, they would also need to deal with the public perception of being big. Think about it, if we need to ride a bus and there is only one seat available, next to an obese person. Will you sit down next to that person? Very often you’d be worried that there isn’t enough space for you, or you’ll worry about the sweat of that person rubbing on you.

Are these good enough examples for you to help get rid of obesity? It has become a common dream among people, to lose weight and to live healthier. Easier said than done. What are the options out there that can help?

Losing Weight: Possible, But Not Easy

The simplest equation to being overweight is consuming too much calories and not burning enough of them. Thus, regular exercise and a healthy diet are crucial when it comes to controlling your weight. If you have not been active, start slowly and build up your stamina as the days go by.

Try to find ways to increase your activity level every day. Climb stairs instead of using an escalator or dance while you are vacuuming your house. For the best effect, 30 minutes of aerobic exercise per day at least 5 times a week would be ideal.

Most people can lose weight by eating a healthier diet. Start opting for fresh and healthy snacks. Choose foods that are high in nutrients rather than high in fat. However, sticking to a weight reduction programme is not easy. You will need a lot of support from family and friends. Learn to eat in moderation and make it a habit. Always make it a point to practice “Hara Hachi Bu”, a term coined by the Japanese to mean eating until you are 80% full.

Some people go to the extent of extreme dieting (less than 1,100 calories per day). Some also resort to taking medications to lose weight. There are many over-the-counter diet products. These measures can be dangerous and lead to a lot of negative side effects.

There is another extreme alternative; surgery. Weight-loss surgery may be done to help you lose weight if you are very obese and have not been able to lose weight with diet and exercise. One such procedure is the laparoscopic gastric binding or a gastric bypass. Of course, just like other surgeries, there might be complications and risks involved. Another drawback is that the costs of these procedures are extremely high too.

You’ll be glad to know that there is a safer and healthier alternative to this gastric band procedure, the Hypno-band.

Hyno-Band: A Practical Solution?

Hypno-Band, the World’s No.1 Gastric Band Hypnotherapy System is a procedure that originated from the United Kingdom, and a world renowned treatment that has been practiced successfully in UK, USA, Australia and a few other countries. It was recently introduced in Malaysia and it has been extremely successful.

The Hypno-Band System is a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and hypnotherapy techniques that helps you explore, analyse and change your eating habits as well as your lifestyle. Then using the mind/body connection we fit a “virtual gastric band” to your stomach, making you eat less and feel full faster. Rest assured that there is no surgery involved and this behaviour changing method is non invasive.

In fact, Hypno-Band is an extremely relaxing procedure. It is safe and there will be no negative side effects associated when you undergo this procedure (except the fact that you will need to invest in new sets of slimmer clothes).

However, the Hypno-Band is not for everybody. If you are overweight and really want and are committed to losing weight then you should be suitable. No weight loss system will work unless you are committed to losing weight. The key to success lies in your own hands. The only exception would be if there is a psychological reason for your weight problems or if you are taking certain medications.

The Hypno-Band procedure uses hypnosis as the primary tool to train your mind to lose weight. On top of that, hypnosis will also help you accept your new body image. Here, a hypnotherapist will help to condition your subconscious mind to live healthy, eat healthy and maintain the body image that is healthy. It works on a strong mind-body relationship. I am sure that you have heard of people going back to their normal obese self after losing weight because they are not ready to acknowledge the change or are still emotionally disturbed. Believe it or not, the most important aspect of losing weight is to think that you can lose weight!

Through hypnosis, losing the body weight as well as the emotional baggage can be done healthily and you’ll be able to accept the healthier, fitter and happier new you!

Whatever method that you choose, make sure you have made the right decision. Also, check to see if the practitioner of your choice, be it a hypnotherapist, a beautician or a personal trainer is fully qualified and is trained to help you achieve your goals. Bear in mind that not only is your time and money invested in, but also your health and your future.

The choice is really yours. If you want to live a happier and healthier life, its time to change your eating and exercise habits. If you want to help your loved one lead a happier and healthier life, pass this message along and aim to live a beautiful life.
