Made from reduced fat milk, Edam is a reduced fat cheese with a fresh, light flavour and smooth, supple texture which may contain some small eyes. Edam has excellent melting properties – ideal for many cooked dishes. It’s great on cheeseboards, as a snack, in savouries, dips or salads. It slices easily and smoothly without crumbling. Sweet fruits like grapes, apples and strawberries complement its mild flavour. Available in 21g chunks and bigger sizes.

Slightly salty

The cheese is generally softer than other cheeses because it has a lower fat content. This will be a great alternative to those who prefer to have a low-fat diet, but still can opt to have cheese. However, the taste itself is quite salty. It lingers a while on your tongue after having it. Pairing it with grapes are really tasty and refreshing. Otherwise, melting it does take longer as it contains less fat and does leave a saltier aftertaste with other foods. Small hints of nuttiness is also present but does not overwhelm the saltiness. Good cheese to use still in wine pairings or antipasto.
