Wash your hands and then unwrap the tampon: Hold the applicator with your thumb and middle finger at the grip. Gently pull on strings to make sure they are firmly attached. If you notice any flaws, do not use.
Get comfortable: Try sitting on the toilet with knees apart or standing with one foot on the toilet seat. Use your fingers on your other hand to pull apart your skin on both sides of your vaginal opening.
Insert the applicator: Slide the applicator inside your vagina at a 45° angle until your thumb touches your body.
Push the tampon inside: Use your index finger to push the inner tube of the applicator. This will release the tampon. The inner applicator should be inside the outer applicator now.
Remove the applicator: Still holding the grip, gently remove the inner and outer applicator at the same time. Make sure you are not touching the cord as you remove the applicator. (CAUTION: DO NOT FLUSH THE APPLICATOR) The tampon should now be comfortably inside you in its precise place with the strings outside your body.
