Every child deserves to learn how to swim while having fun in the water. At D Swim Academy (DSA), they get to experience all that and more.
An Enjoyable, Learning Experience
Learning to swim at DSA can be one of the most rewarding early-childhood experiences for your child. Babies who are re-introduced to an aquatic environment will have a sense of familiarity, as it is a similar environment to a mother’s womb. Children can benefit from being in water, just like the many people who use water for relaxation, play, therapy, health, nourishment and exercise. In water, children are weightless, and learning though this unique natural element offers a harmonious and joyous experience. Babies can learn to swim months before they can walk, and it’s easier for babies to propel themselves to you in the water, rather than pulling themselves up and walking towards you on land.
10 Benefits Of Learning To Swim Young
There are many benefits in letting your child swim while they are still young. Here are ten of them:
1. Teaches Early Childhood Water Safety
Unfortunately, drowning is one of the biggest causes of accidental death among young children. When children learn how to swim, it may even help save their lives in water-related emergencies.
2. It Develops Their Strength
Being in water helps develop the babies’ fitness through strengthening their muscles, ligaments and vital organs. They need to exercise more muscles in water compared to on land. This excellent muscle control development allows babies to walk earlier, too.
3. It Develops Their Coordination
Swimming promotes motor control, agility, co-ordination and balance. Studies have shown that babies who swim can grasp objects more easily and have better balance than non-swimmers.
4. Improves Appetite And Sleep
All that exercise helps babies expand energy productively, leading to healthy appetites and more restful slumber.
5. Makes Babies More Alert
Swimming equips babies with vital skills, stimulates their awareness and alertness as it aids brain development through stimulating all 5 senses.
6. Promotes Bonding
Body contact with the parent while in the pool during the program encourages the release of endorphins in both the parent and baby. How’s that for great quality time?
7. Increases Social Skills
Babies learn to develop social skills, by learning to share and take turns at the pool. Sharing is caring!
8. Boosts Basic Water Confidence
When babies learn to swim at a very young age, they won’t develop a fear of water later on in life. This opens a whole world of adventure and possibilities for them to enjoy life fully. It also provides a foundation for future development in water sports.
9. Develops Learning Skills
Baby’s mental skills and levels of understanding are enhanced when responding to repetitive voice commands at the swimming centre. Studies have shown that babies who swim have advanced motor development, social skills and intelligence than non-swimmers. When they start school, they are ahead by 6 to 15 months than non-swimmers in subjects like maths and languages.
10. Provides Structure
Sticking to a weekly swimming schedule promotes healthy childhood through a focused, recreational, fun, enjoyable and relaxed learning environment regularly!

Benefits Of Learning To Swim With DSA
At DSA, your child is at the safe hands of professional, highly trained, motivated instructors who are passionate about teaching swimming. They will want to go back for lessons again and again as all DSA lessons are safe, fun, progressive and comprehensive, and follow the world recognised AUSTSWIM course curriculum, Australia’s national organisation for the Teaching of Swimming and Water SafetyTM. DSA is also the largest AUSTSWIM Recognised Swim Centre in Malaysia.
You can continually monitor your child’s progress through swimming lesson progress cards. All swimmers are continuously assessed and certificates awarded for achievements.
Best of all, students are not pressurized or pushed to perform, but gently guided to develop their skills. As such, there is no accelerated expectations ahead of the student’s actual readiness.
Recently, DSA won the highly esteemed BabyTalk Readers’ Choice Awards 2017 for Best Swim School and Best Toddlers Swimming Programme categories. This shows that parents are confident and happy with what DSA has contributed towards their child’s early years’ development. DSA has multiple locations at Bukit Jalil, Kampung Pandan, Shah Alam, Setia Alam, Seri Kembangan, Setiawangsa and Subang Jaya for your convenience.
