Why Overheating Food is Bad for Your Child’s Immunity
Many parents understand the importance of cooking nutritious food to ensure that all harmful bacteria are eliminated before the food is consumed by their children.
Good digestion builds your child’s immunity by breaking down food so that our body can absorb the nutrients. But overheating nutritious food can make them harder to digest.
When a child’s digestive system is compromised, this may lower the child’s immunity and cause digestive problems such as colic, bloating and constipation.
Consultant Dietitian Indra Balaratnam explains that food cooked at the right temperature is easier to digest, and this applies to formula milk as well. Unfortunately, milk is typically subjected to high heat during processing which damages the original structure of the content. Children with digestion problems tend to be easily agitated, disinterested in playing and lack appetite. “They may cry constantly due to discomfort and may not learn or interact well,” she added.
Choosing the Right Kind of Milk
So, how do you ensure that children can easily digest food, especially milk and absorb the nutrients within it? By choosing products that ensure that there is no overheating during processing, such as Friso Gold.
Friso Gold has improved its formula with LocNutri technology, which uses mild heat treatment during milk processing. Thus, milk is preserved in its natural, easily-digestible structures.
During the launch, local celebrities — Liyana Jasmay and Wayne Chua shared how as mothers, they often worry about their children’s digestive system. Wayne’s 4-year-old daughter Celestia used to suffer from colic and bloating. At her wits end of what to do, Wayne decided to try Friso Gold’s latest formulation, which helped cure her daughter from her digestive issues.
As for Liyana, she does her best to help her 2-year-old daughter Sofia Arissa to avoid indigestion. “I want to help her make the most of everyday by exploring new possibilities while having fun. Children can’t focus on playing, interacting or learning if their stomach is hurting from indigestion,” she said.
One of the ways Liyana helps improve Sofia’s digestion is by preparing meals that are fresh and fibre-rich and to ensure she drinks lots of fluids including Friso Gold milk.
Friso Gold formulated milk powder for children with LocNutri technology is now available at stores nationwide.
