Chongkak Park & Resort, which is a tourism area managed by Tourism Selangor, is one of the iconic eco-tourism products in the State of Selangor and is one of the areas for programmes with a CSR concept, especially environmental care programmes. A Donation Event at the Chongkak Park & Resort was conducted, which is a CSR initiative from the Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS) that provides garbage bins for the area. This ceremony was officiated by the Technologist Haji Hasrolnizam bin Shaari S.I.S, Director of the Selangor Water Management Board (LUAS) and involved staff from LUAS and Tourism Selangor.
Through this initiative, a total of 10 units of garbage bins have been donated by LUAS as one of the efforts to improve the existing facilities at Chongkak Park & Resort. In addition to creating awareness among visitors to take their trash home, Tourism Selangor also provided a garbage disposal area to maintain cleanliness around the Chongkak Park & Resort area.
Ecotourism is one of the main tourism segments that is the choice of tourists in the state of Selangor. There are several selected tourist spots, such as eco forest parks under the supervision of Tourism Selangor and the Selangor State Forestry Department such as Kanching Eco Forest Park, Sungai Tekala Eco Forest Park, Commonwealth Eco Forest Park and many more. In addition to being a tourism destination for the family, these eco forest parks are also an area to carry out activities with the concept of CSR, Voluntourism to foster the spirit of caring for the environment and the sustainability of green areas in the State of Selangor.
According to Technologist Tuan Haji Hasrolnizam bin Shaari, Director of the Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS), all relevant agencies are always committed to ensuring that enforcement of the state’s rivers is carried out through preventive, monitoring, control and punitive measures. Awareness initiatives are also developed as currently being implemented by LUAS, namely the Selangor State Friends of Rivers (FOR) Initiative. The initiative is a community empowerment measure regarding the role of the community in the preservation and conservation of the river, in addition to increasing the community’s responsibility towards the importance of the river.
Tourism Selangor in a statement, said that various initiatives had been carried out to maintain the sustainability of ecotourism areas in Selangor, such as the implementation of the Gombak-Hulu Langat (GHL) Geopark Project. This project is one of the innovative efforts in identifying potential geosite areas with geological significance. This involves an area of 112,955 hectares found in 2 districts; Gombak district with 13 geosites and Hulu Langat with 7 geosites.
Efforts have been carried out to preserve the tourism areas in the state of Selangor, especially the focus areas for domestic tourism. This is in line with the campaign Nak Bercuti, Pusing Selangor Dulu! It is a domestic tourism promotional campaign by Tourism Selangor. This campaign aims to make the state of Selangor a top tourist destination in the country. This programme was also attended by Mr. Abdul Rahman bin Muhd Sedek, Assistant Director of the Department of Minerals and Geosciences for Selangor and Federal Territories, and gave a briefing regarding the Gombak Hulu Langat Geopark project to the participants and guests.
