Whether you’re trying for a baby or not, if you become pregnant, you’d surely want to know about it as early as possible! While a missed period may be a telling clue, here are a dozen more ways to tell if your last loving deed between the sheets did the trick.

1. Pant, puff! – Shortness of breath

If you feel like the usual daily flights of stairs suddenly seem to leave you breathless, take heed, for it could be a sign of pregnancy. The developing fetus needs oxygen, leaving you a little short. It may very well be this way throughout your pregnancy.

2. Tender twins

If your boobs suddenly seem to have increased in size and putting on or taking off your bra becomes a painful struggle, it might also be an indicator of pregnancy. Other changes you may notice are darkened areolas. For some women, veins on their breasts may suddenly seem more pronounced. Wear your most supportive bra during the day and a sleeping bra to bed if you need to, for comfort.

3. Unexplained fatigue

Another early clue of pregnancy is when you feel tired and sleepy even after waking in the morning or after a nap. Fluctuating hormones are to blame for this and for most women, this fatigue will carry on right up until the second trimester.

4. Morning sickness

Most women will experience this queasiness during the first few weeks of pregnancy. Don’t let the name fool you though, for it may strike anytime during the day and not just in the mornings. One thing’s for sure – if you’re otherwise healthy and you’re not sick in any way, feeling nauseated for no apparent reason could be a sign that you’re pregnant!

5. Frequent peeing

Frequent peeing is a known indicator of pregnancy. During pregnancy your body produces extra fluids as wastes and has your bladder working overtime to expel them through peeing. So, have you been peeing too often lately? Well, no you know why!

6. Cramps

Cramps could be tricky, for they could also be part of your pre-menstrual syndrome. However, if your period is late and you’re having bad cramps, it might be your uterus stretching to get ready for tenancy by a fetus!

7. Dizziness or Fainting

Sudden dizziness or fainting spells are also symptoms used to signify pregnancies in movies. Low blood sugar or blood pressure can cause a woozy episode. If you feel like passing out quite often lately, you could be pregnant!

8. Appetite issues

Have you developed a sudden liking or aversion for certain foods? If you suddenly can’t get enough of watermelons, for instance, or the sight of chicken makes your tummy churn, then it’s safe to say that you might be pregnant!

9. Feeling emotional and moody

You’ll surely not miss this one, for it might even leave you in tears at times! As your body adjusts itself to new hormones, your emotions may pay the price, so if you’re indeed pregnant, hang on in there for it’ll pass.

10. Heightened sense of smell

Some women report having been able to smell stuff from across the room when they became pregnant. Plus, certain smells that never bothered them before now repulse them big time. If you suddenly develop this heightened sense of smell and super sensitivity, it can be taken as a sign of pregnancy.

11. Headaches

As annoying as they are, headaches can be the result of changes in hormones due to pregnancy. So, if you’re having headaches out of the blue and your period has stopped, you might as well consider yourself pregnant. To be safe, be mindful of the type of painkillers you intend to take for it. Visit your doctor, both for confirmation and for safe meds.

12. Lower back pain

A sore lower back, especially if you have never had it before, could mean your ligaments are loosening. It might even continue through your pregnancy as your center of gravity shifts and throws you off your normal posture.
