Sunway International School (SIS) is the only private co-educational institution in Malaysia offering Grades 7 to 11 of the Ontario (Canada) Ministry of Education Secondary School Curriculum. SIS was founded in 2008, and is part of the Sunway Education Group, which is owned and governed by the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation.
The Ontario Secondary School curriculum offered at SIS leads to the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) – a globally recognised qualification for admission into top tiered universities worldwide.
This curriculum is a student-centred, performance-driven programme that focusses on students’ continuous development, with formative assessment that is evaluated based on a ratio of 70% course work, with the final 30% allotted to end-of-semester evaluation – completed towards the end of the semester, or in the form of an exam or an equivalent, specific to each course.
At SIS, we nurture minds and build characters as we understand each and every student is unique with their own personal strengths. As such, our inclusive classroom environment for diverse learners gives students the space to discover their full potential.
Learning is conducted in an enjoyable manner in line with our philosophy that the pursuit of knowledge need not be an intimidating process. Our students are immersed in a stimulating and vibrant learning environment where they discover the joy of learning.
All Ontario credit courses are taught by fully certified Canadian professionals licensed by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), which qualifies teachers to teach in Ontario school systems. This accreditation distinguishes SIS teachers as professionals whose teaching practices are guided and informed by internationally benchmarked standards and practices.
Ontario-certified teachers are Canadian citizens who, in addition to subject expertise, utilise their additional qualifications in teaching to bring a wide variety of teaching and learning strategies to ensure the greatest learning opportunities for our students.
