Established in 1983, the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) has been instrumental in taking the concept of Islamization of Knowledge a step further.
The establishment of the International Islamic School (IIS) in September 1998 is testimony to the university’s continuous effort in the provision of quality, affordable and holistic education to the foreign staff of the university in particular, and for the enhancement of a continuous learning experience guided by the principles of Islam to the Muslim Ummah.
IIS is wholly-owned by IIUM through its subsidiary company IIUM Holdings Sdn. Bhd. It adopts the system of integrated curriculum of Revealed Knowledge and Acquired Knowledge.
IIS fosters an Islamic environment by starting the day with Dhuha sunnah prayer in the morning, followed by congregational prayer for Zohor, and observes Islamic aurat for both boys and girls.
The IIS international environment has attracted students from 46 countries with teaching staff from 11 different countries to guide students in effective teaching and learning.
English is the medium of instruction and the school adopts the University of Cambridge International Examinations Curriculum. IIS offers boarding with well-equipped hostel facilities.
