We’re lucky to be living in a land lined with beautiful beaches! Coupled with our typically warm and sunny weather, it’s no wonder beach holidays are a winner among Malaysian families! Here are five beachy destinations you don’t want to give a miss.

Port Dickson

Port Dickson or better known as PD, is a stretch of beaches located in Negeri Sembilan. They are perfect for family picnics or for merely lazing the day away on short weekend getaways.

Here, you’ll not miss the rows of beachside stalls and shops selling almost everything you could ever want for a perfect day at the beach — swimsuits, floats, beach toy, hats, etc. Children can have fun building sandcastles and picking up seashells as momentos from their fun beach vacation.

Among the best beaches in Port Dickson are Teluk Kemang, Pantai Cahaya Negeri, Pantai Saujana, Pantai Bagan Pinang and Cape Rachado.

Morib

Morib beach is a well known destination for family weekend getaways. It’s among the first landing points on the west coast for the British and Indian Army liberation forces during the end of World War II in 1945. The beach itself is small but nevertheless, it is suitable for family outings as well as for swimming.

Morib attracts more than 10,000 visitors annually notably during the month of August, festive seasons and public holidays. Its Gold Coast Morib International Resort is a family favourite, with its small water park for children to have the time of their life.

Cherating

Cherating is a beautiful beach resort in Kuantan, Pahang. It’s beautiful and laid back with lovely, wide beaches. Known for its strong winds and beautifully aligned coconut trees, Cherating has become a popular surfing spot among local and foreign surfers. Cherating is also where the exclusive resort Club Med is located for a perfect holiday!

Cahaya Bulan

Cahaya Bulan is famous for the seafood restaurants lining its beach. Although it’s a great stretch of beach for a family picnic, the lack of shade beckons that you bring your own picnic umbrella, or enjoy its beauty in the early mornings or in the evenings instead of afternoons.

Kite-flying is a popular activity at the beach and the kites can be bought at nearby shops.

Desaru

Located approximately 100 kilometres away from Johor Bahru, Desaru is not only a locals’ favourite — it also welcomes a fair share of tourists. Its soft, white sand and breathtaking views are what makes it a great holiday spot.

Desaru is known for its Casuarina trees. Parents can relax under the trees while children have fun swimming in the sea, under supervision, of course.
