KUALA LUMPUR, 27 August 2019 – Deloitte Malaysia is proud to announce the signing of CPA Australia as a partner in the Deloitte Audit Business Challenge (D’ABC), an initiative designed to bring real life audit experiences to undergraduate students hoping to gain a deeper understanding on what auditing really involves. The agreement was signed between Stanley Teo, Audit & Assurance Leader of Deloitte Malaysia and Priya Terumalay, Country Head – Malaysia of CPA Australia.

“This partnership serves as a statement of our shared commitment towards nurturing future talent and continuously working with the leading professional bodies to elevate the standards of the accounting profession,” shared Stanley during the signing ceremony.

Aimed at generating interest in the audit profession, students will be given a hands-on experience at networking and applying critical thinking skills to business, auditing, accounting and ethical issues. Open to all accounting and finance undergraduates in Malaysia, the challenge will comprise of workshops, quizzes, video submissions and presentations based on real life audit scenarios.

“D’ABC is designed to be a great platform and opportunity for students to be exposed to the reality of the audit and assurance profession. In today’s digital era, they’ll experience the latest auditing tools and understand the benefits of having professional accounting qualifications. I strongly believe students will find this experience enlightening and valuable,” added Izzad Shamsudin, Audit and Assurance Partner and Deloitte Audit Business Challenge Organising Chairman at Deloitte Malaysia.

Besides the opportunity to gain invaluable knowledge and skills, participants of D’ABC also stand the chance to win cash prizes of up to RM8,000, engage in a “partner-tagging” session to experience a day in the life of an audit partner and the prospect of undertaking an internship at Deloitte Malaysia. Finalists will also be invited to the “Grand Gala Dinner”, where they will be given the chance to connect with key leaders in the Malaysian audit industry.

Also present at the signing ceremony today, held at the Deloitte Malaysia Kuala Lumpur office, were Yee Wing Peng, Country Managing Partner of Deloitte Malaysia, Jimmy Lai, Deputy Audit and Assurance Leader of Deloitte Malaysia who is also Deputy President of CPA Australia Malaysia Division, and representatives from CPA Australia, Ammitroy Singh, Regional Manager of Business Development SEA; April Chiew, Senior Manager of Business Development Malaysia and Serena Wu, Senior Business Development Manager.
