An Award-Winning Global Cruise Will Add Over 100,000 Tourist To Malaysia In 2019-2020

Royal Caribbean International announced that Asia’s largest and most revolutionary ship; Quantum of the Seas will be back in Southeast Asia for a six-month season in 2019 to 2020. This is said to be the cruise line’s longest ever deployment in the region of a Quantum Class ship, bringing hundreds of thousands of tourists to Malaysia and the region.

This announcement redefined cruising in Asia in terms of size and innovative amenities, reaffirms Royal Caribbean’s confidence in the region as a destination and source market including Malaysia. Out of the 34 sailings out from Singapore during the six months from November 2019 to April 2020, 27 of the sailings will visit Malaysia, making a total of 43 calls to Port Klang and Penang with expected tourists to be around 190,000 arrivals for both ports combined.

The 18-deck high, 168,666 gross registered ton Quantum of the Seas which carries 4,905 guests in total currently offers the ‘North Star’, an observation capsule that rises 92 metres over the ocean; ‘Two70’ – a hi-tech entertainment venue; the ‘Bionic Bar’ with robotic bartenders; skydiving and surfing experiences.

It is fully equipped with interior virtual balconies with real-time ocean views; and ‘SeaPlex’, the largest indoor activity space at sea – housing a basketball court, roller-skating, bumper cars and more. The ship also boasts 18 restaurant venues with cuisines from around the globe, including imaginative cuisine at Wonderland and Jamie’s Italian by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.

The multimillion-dollar project will see the ship refreshed and upgraded to provide the best of the next generation cruise experience for guests in this region. Royal Caribbean’s Managing Director, Asia-Pacific, Mr Sean Treacy, said that the commitment to bring in bigger and better ships like Quantum of the Seas demonstrates Royal Caribbean’s
confidence in the region to continue experiencing record-breaking growth.

Quantum of the Seas’ itineraries include 4-night cruises to Penang or Phuket, 5-night cruises to Kuala Lumpur (Port Klang), Penang and Phuket, a 7-night cruise to Kuala Lumpur (Port Klang), Penang and Phuket (with an overnight) and a 7-night cruise to Bangkok (Laem Chabang) with an overnight and as well as Ho Chi Minh City.
