All Things Confinement Workshop: Everything You Need To Know About Pregnancy and Confinement

On August 11th 2018, BabyTalk and MamaPapa magazines worked together with 100Comments to organize a motherhood workshop themed “All Things Confinement”. Held in the 5 star luxury LYC Mother & Child Center in TTDI, this information loaded workshop was a big hit, with dozens of expectant couples and parents coming in as early as 10am in order to receive knowledge and parenting tips from some of the best in the business.

 

 

This 3 hour workshop was packed full of useful tips and tricks to help expectant couples prepare for their journey into parenthood.

The experts who took the stage included representatives from companies such as IC Life Sciences, Cryrocord, Bmama Nursing Wear, and LYC itself. They touched upon a wide variety of topics ranging from childcare to cooking.

Stretches and an Informative Talks

The first speaker to appear on stage was LYC’s Yoga Intructor, Leng Zie, who led everyone through a brief series of warm up stretches to demonstrate the type of stretches and breathing exercises taught to new mothers in LYC.

Once everyone was warmed up, the mike was passed to Ms Ivy Kong and her assistant Suhaila who demonstrated a “Baby Massage” on a life sized doll. Ms Ivy also entertained the audience with several snippets and facts taken from her 43 years of experience in nursing.

The next speaker was Mr. Jimmy Yow from IC LifeSciences, who gave a talk on weight management post pregnancy. He took the time to explain facts such as the importance of eating healthily and how many calories an average person would require each day. Mr. Yow also revealed his company’s Microdiet product – a specially formulated meal replacement that comes in no less than 7 delicious flavors.

After that, Cryrocord representative Ms Kah Mun stepped in to give a talk on “The Wonders of Umbilical Cord”. As one of the largest and most comprehensive stem cell banks in Southeast Asia, Cryrocord have won several awards such as the Best Stem Cell Award six years in a row from BabyTalk Magazine.

Finally, Bmama founder Kay Wong gave a talk on “How to take care of your pelvis before and after delivery”, even demonstrating some of her company’s maternity products to the audience. As the sole distributor of Japanese maternity brand Inujirushi, Bmama is specialized in high quality maternity products for every stage of pregnancy.

The talks were wrapped up by Dr. June Yang, CEO of LYC Mother & Child Centre, who gave an introduction of the luxury confinement center followed by a quick tour around the facilities so that participants could get a first hand look at what they offered.

Grand Prize Lucky Draw

The workshop ended with a Lucky Draw where several lucky winners got the chance to walk away with a variety of exclusive prizes including products from Bmama and IC LifeSciences. The grand prize winner received an Eve Manual Breast Pump worth RM500.
