To further strengthen its commitment to science and wellness, Heartana also held a handover ceremony with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)’s Faculty of Traditional Chinese Medicine and T&CM Centre, UTAR Hospital. As a symbolic and practical start to a joint research and development programme, Heartana contributed 1 kilogram of premium agarwood resin from Agartana to UTAR. This marks the beginning of collaborative efforts, including clinical trials and scientific studies focused on the therapeutic applications of agarwood in both wellness and traditional medicine.

Speaking at the event, Jessica Tan, Founder of Heartana Global Berhad said “The Guardian Tree represents more than a symbolic gesture. It is a living testament to wellness, heritage and hope for the future”.

Located on a 20-acre orchard in Sungai Petani, Kedah, the Agartana estate can fit up to 36,000 agarwood trees, with 10,000 selectively opened for public ownership. Every tree is tagged, recorded and traceable through a secure QR-based system. Once a tree is selected, Agartana acts as its official caretaker, overseeing its health, maintenance and growth with dedicated care and professional expertise.

The trees planted under this initiative are Ky Nam, or Aquilaria Crassna, a rare and revered species often called the King of Fragrances, historically favoured by emperors, scholars, and connoisseurs of meaningful scent. Harvesting may begin as early as Year 5. At that point, Agartana will assist in cutting and packaging only the resin-bearing branches for the owner. The main tree trunk remains rooted, allowing it to continue growing. The longer the tree matures, the more refined and valuable its resin becomes. Over time, each Guardian Tree evolves into a living heirloom that gains in depth, meaning and natural worth.

“Backed with 11 years of research and development, it is about anchoring your legacy in something that breathes with time and memory. Agartana offers a way for families to create a personal story that grows stronger with each passing year, one that connects love, heritage and nature in the most profound way. This is not a transaction, but a timeless gift that deepens in meaning with every year,” Jessica added.

Revered globally as one of the rarest and most precious natural substances, agarwood is often called the ‘Gold Among Woods’. It has long held a sacred place in wellness rituals, religious ceremonies, traditional medicine and luxury perfumery. Its rich, complex aroma is known for its calming, meditative qualities, while its resin is highly valued in Traditional Chinese Medicine for its therapeutic effects.

With wild sources becoming increasingly scarce, responsibly cultivated agarwood such as Agartana’s is gaining recognition as a meaningful natural asset, appreciated by collectors, wellness practitioners and cultural custodians worldwide.

Agartana offers families a meaningful new way to celebrate life’s milestones – from the birth of a child to the memory of a loved one – by planting something that lives on and grows with time.
