No Judgments, Please!
Is this your first time waxing down there? If you’re embarrassed to show your vulva to the staff, don’t be! Professional waxing salon staff have seen them all, trust us! They have waxed countless number of customers and have seen all types of vulva and bushes! Nobody is judging your vulva and this isn’t some contest! Go in with confidence and walk out with added confidence!
Grow It Out
Do not shave or trim before a waxing session. This is because hair needs to be at least a quarter inch long for the wax to be able to remove it smoothly. If you do need a trim after the wax session, most if not all waxing salon staff will trim your bush for you too. If you have waxed before, wait between 3 and 4 weeks before you go in for your next session.
It’s A Bloody Mess
If you’re on your period, we would suggest scheduling your wax session a week later (when your pain tolerance is at its highest). First of all, don’t wax when you’re on your period as pain receptors are at an all-time high during this time. Second, if you do go along with it, it is only going to be a bloody mess for both you and the staff who has to do it for you.
Don’t Come From Zumba Classes
When you’re all sweaty from a workout session, this also means your lady bits are hot, sweaty and bothered. Waxing during this time will yield disastrous results for your skin later as it will get irritated. So, go home, take a shower and rest for a few hours before you drop by the waxing salon.
More Waxing = Less Hair Growth
In contrast with shaving, which simply removes hair at the skin’s surface, waxing pulls off hair from the root. With regular waxing, hair grows back finer, softer and less coarse.
Peeing And Cleanliness
Have you gone for medical tests that involves having the doctor press onto your full bladder while looking at your ovaries and the uterus? The urge to pee is strong, right? Well, same thing here. Don’t lay on the wax table with a full bladder! Also, sometimes waxing salons provide wet wipes for you to clean yourself before a session because who wants to see something that shouldn’t be there? Ew! Give your vulva a clean wipe and get going!
Be Vocal About Your Choices
If you want a particular style, say so! Talk to the staff that is tending to you and make your choice heard. Don’t be shy and get your money’s worth!
Stay Sober!
You might be tempted to have a glass of wine, a pint of beer or pop a painkiller just so that you don’t have to endure the pain that comes with ripping hair off your most sensitive areas. Having one glass or taking one painkiller tablet is fine but don’t overdo it. Don’t come drunk because it only makes your blood thinner and more sensitive to pain.
Red Bumps Post-Waxing
Red bumps are a common reaction to waxing, but you should be fine by the next day. Most waxing salons offer creams for you to maintain silky smooth skin.
Hold Off The Hot Showers—And Sex!
Showering a couple of hours after your treatment is fine, as long as the water is not warm. Sex, on the other hand, must wait until the next day. Since your pores will be open for some time, it’s best to refrain from hot, steamy activities, in the bathroom and in the bedroom. But don’t worry—it’s only for 24 hours!
