Dr Amir Farid Isahak on what to expect at his Male Sexual Health & Sexual Qigong Class – from unblocking your sexual energy to what makes you a better man on bed.

What is Sexual Qigong?

Basically, sexual qigong has the same principles with the common qigong that we know of but with the aim of improving sexual health. It involves three key aspects, namely getting better chi flow to the pelvic region, and especially to the sexual organs; getting better chi fl ow to the other organs related to sexual health, and in the TCM system, they are the kidneys, and lastly towards physical performance. This is because good sexual performance doesn’t just rely on good erection where males are concerned. It is also about being physically fit and having strong body parts that are relevant to good sexual performance. The exercises in the class will cover the flow of chi and at the same time cover physical exercises as well.

How long have you been conducting this course and how has the response been so far?

I’ve been conducting qigong classes for the past ten years, and Sexual Qigong for the past four years. I want to keep the class small, say 20 persons for a class. If the class gets any bigger, personal attention may be compromised. I emphasize on one to one attention for better learning.

Is Sexual Qigong similar to the famous Iron Crotch qigong?

There are many forms of qigong; some soft, some hard. Iron Crotch, or whatever you want to call it – different masters have different exercises. I learned from many masters, so I picked up the ones that I feel are the best for the students.

Who can practice Sexual Qigong?

This is a basic class. Anyone can join and learn (above 18 years old, and only for men at this moment). You don’t have to be married. So far my oldest student is 80 plus. You can learn and practise Sexual Qigong at any age to improve your general health and the quality of your life. One of my students in fact brought his 80 year old father to join the class because his father was soon to remarry.

What will one learn in the class?

The class basically touches on energy and optimizes on the knowledge of the East and West to reach our cellular levels. After all, science has come to the conclusion that the deepest core of our beings is nothing but energy. In fact you’d be surprised that many men do not even know that they are suffering from male menopause, or andropause. It’s easy for women as they menstruate every month. Once it stops, they know they’ve reached menopause. But it’s not so easy for men. There is no sign. So men go on living clueless.

As a doctor, I also share with them the science behind ageing including the importance of hormones, like testosterone. Many know testosterone as a sex hormone that plays important roles in the body. But many don’t know that in men, testosterone is thought not only to regulate sex drive (libido), but also influence bone mass, fat distribution, muscle mass and strength, and the production of red blood cells and sperm and brain behavioral functions. I will touch on this too.

Is there any harmful side effects?

The only harm I see is trying weight lifting without any supervision. To the uninitiated, the weight lifting that I teach is using the male genitalia to lift weight – it’s gym work for your penis. Some excited students may overdo their weight lifting, hence the possibility of injury. The weight lifting revision class comes one month after the Sexual Qigong course. Any serious student who wants improvement can attend the revision class. But it’s not compulsory. Prior requirement is that they should have attended the Sexual Qigong course, during which the weightlifting will be demonstrated.

How soon can one see a difference after the Sexual Qigong class?

If you do all the exercises properly, even after the first day, you will be able to see the difference. Here is a real incident – one of my students, an 80-year old elderly man who staggered into my class with the help of a walking stick, got rid of the walking stick after just a day of qigong class. I’ve also seen students who were unable to bend due to stiff back stretching down to tie their shoe laces. Some will see immediate results, while others may take longer time. Some may have energy blocks. Some seriously practice their daily exercises. Regular practice is a must if the benefits are to be achieved. So, results vary according to individuals but if one is serious, result is sure to come.

Do we need to change our lifestyle after learning Sexual Qigong?

Not really. However, some basic understanding on how life force works may help how you live your life. For instance, you’d feel better if you eat fresh, organic and nutritious food, rather than pesticide ridden, preserved food. If you understand how Chi flows, you will experience a better quality life.
