Kuala Lumpur, 2 July 2019 – The air was palpable with exhilaration recently as more than 8000 eager Malaysians assembled at Bukit Jalil National Stadium to conquer the cooling courses of COWAY Run 2019 – encouraging Malaysians to live pure through one of Coway’s anticipated healthy activities in the calendar.
Back for its third year, COWAY Run 2019 proved to be a hit with avid runners, as it has garnered more than 100% of its 6,000-participants goal in less than a month since registrations went live early March – an increase of 60% in participation compared to its previous year.
Mr Kyle Choi Ki Ryong, Managing Director of Coway Malaysia highlighted that Coway Run aims to be a medium for Malaysians to take that first step to a better, healthier life while enjoying a healthy activity with other keen runners.
“We are elated by the inspiring response for Coway Run 2019, and pleased to know that Malaysians are with us on our mission to not only consume clean and pure water but to live pure by participating in activities such as this,” said Mr Kyle Choi.
COWAY Run 2019 sported a bigger and better theme with participants overcoming obstacles that complement this year’s theme of “Wind and Water, Back and Better”. Not only did they sprinted through a mist tunnel, participants get to feel the breeze of the wind tunnel and the coolness from the water zones through a foam ocean as they made their way to the finish line.
Coway Run 2019 involved a 5KM a fun run for those aged 16 and above, while serious runners ploughed through the 10KM run participated by both men and women for the following categories: Open (for ages 16 and above), International (for ages 16 and above), and Veteran (for ages 40 and above).
Mr. Kyle Choi said that the run not only serves as a platform for runners but also a space where friends and family can experience the Korean culture of Coway’s birthplace right at the stadium itself, where participants and their families delighted in Coway’s Korean Village indulging in mouth-watering delicacies from various food trucks and partaking in traditional Korean activities such as Fly High Shoes, Flip it and many more.
“We want to ensure that all who participated in Coway Run leave with a memorable experience – be it through experiencing the varied elements of the run or the engaging activities and delicious delicacies prepared in the Korean Village, there is always something for everyone to enjoy at Coway Run,” mentioned Mr. Kyle Choi.
As per tradition, COWAY Run 2019 will also be channelling proceeds from the run to support its annual CSR initiative, the Happy Water Project – where indigenous communities are supplied with clean and pure water.
Many among our midst still do not have access to clean and pure water, and this issue is often taken for granted. Having entered more than 1 million homes, Coway Malaysia, the nation’s leading water specialist continues to ensure their mission of supporting at least 1,000 Orang Asli families in Malaysia with access to clean filtered water to carry out their daily water necessities by channelling RM 10 of every registration fees towards Happy Water Project – providing the less fortunate with water filter supply devices especially in the rural areas.
“It is the right of every human being to have access to clean water at their convenience. However, not all Malaysians are privileged with that right and therefore, we at Coway Malaysia have made it our mission to ensure no Malaysians get left behind and that the right of having the convenience to clean water becomes theirs,” explained Mr Kyle.
