As a fan of all things organic, I was thrilled to be introduced to World Organics’ amazing range of organic make-up products. To the uninitiated, World Organics is from New Zealand and its product ranges are certified to be genuinely organic by internationally recognised BioGro, which guarantees that a product is made without animal testing, genetic modification and the routine use of synthetic pesticides. The products are also completely alcohol-free and certified vegan. Within World Organics there are two brands: The Organic Skin Co being the contemporary range and River Veda the luxury spa range.

To start my beauty adventure into World Organics, I tried The Organic Skin Co Purely Primer, which comes in two shades, Lunar and Rose Gold and retails at RM150. I used the lunar shade, which goes well with my skin tone. And can I say how much I love the packaging with the wood-based cover? It’s so earthy and zen!

The Organic Skin Co Purely Primer is a mineral-based primer that is infused with botanical goodness. It hydrates, minimises shine, and creates a smooth canvas for flawless makeup application.

Truly Organic

I love how World Organics clearly states how much percentage of its product is comprised of organic ingredients and natural ingredients. For instance, the primer is made with 78.15% organic ingredients and 96.6% natural ingredients.

And being discerning beauty product users, it’s important to check the ingredients of products that we put on our precious skin. So here’s the complete list of ingredients for The Organic Skin Co Purely Primer:

List of Ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Propanediol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Organic Vegetable Glycerine, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Supercritical Extract, Aqua (Water) Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Supercritical Extract, Xanthan Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Citrus Sinensis (Sweet Orange) Essential Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Ofcinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Organic Phyllanthus Emblica (Amla) Berry Supercritical Extract, Organic Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Supercritical Extract. May Contain Colours: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492), Mica (CI 77019).

So many botanical goodies up there – none of the nasty chemicals that wreaks havoc on the skin! And the essential oils used are top-grade, too — they are produced by the state-of-the-art supercritical extraction method where none of the essential oil elements are damaged by heat and no hexanes are created as in some essential oils extractions techniques. They are very pure (they have no solvents such as alcohol or propylene glycol) and concentrated (up to 250 times more potent), which means, a little goes a long way.

Here is a comparison photo of before and after I applied The Organic Skin Co Purely Primer:

In case the difference is not too obvious, here’s a close-up of how The Organic Skin Co Purely Primer worked to smoothen my complexion. My pores appear smaller – a true bonus indeed! My makeup adheres easily and lasts the whole day. Best of all, I noticed that my skin is moisturised and not flaky under the makeup. It’s just a multi-use wonder and I love products that are natural, organic and kind to my skin.

Needless to say, I am thrilled with the results! It really does what it promises to do – “hydrates, minimises shine, and creates a smooth canvas for flawless makeup application”.

I discovered that it works well on its own, too. When I’m in a hurry, all I have to do is schlap on my sunblock, the primer and loose powder and I’m good to go. Of course, if I have more time, I’d put on The Organic Skin Co Luminous Foundation for more coverage but otherwise, using the primer on its own makes me look polished enough for a day out for brunch with friends.

A slightly smaller than pea-sized primer is all it takes to cover my face fully. So it will last a long while in my beauty stash even with daily use. I totally recommend it!
