Long time residents of Petaling Jaya will fondly remember the old Jaya Supermarket. After it was first opened in 1974, it became one of the popular hangouts in the area, with young people coming from all over tp relax at the food stalls and frequent the gaming arcades. During its old heyday, Jaya Shopping Center was more then a mall – it was a complex filled with rich memories and a strong connection among the local community.
When the mall was shut down in 2008 for redevelopment, many people were devastated. After years of patiently waiting, many local residents flocked to the Jaya Shopping Center when it reopened its doors in April 2014, excited to see what the new and improved shopping mall would have to offer.
The new Jaya Shopping Center is a reflection of its neighboring communities – a fresh, trendy mall that provides a better, brighter, and bolder shopping experience. Infused with the energy and excitement of today’s generation this shopping complex is poised to bring back and even overcome the glory years of the past.
As one of Petaling Jaya’s ‘neighborhood retail centers’, Jaya Shopping Center is bigger and better then ever before. This seven-story suburban mall contains over 120 outlets and diners, with an eight screen Cineplex and even a supermarket. It offers a wide selection of retail options from fashion, sportswear, toys, spas, electronic gadgets, and more. With its prime location in the heart of Petaling Jaya’s affluent suburbs, this mall is set to become more popular then ever before.
